On this day in 1775 The Pennsylvania Commitee of Safety created the Pennsylvania State Navy for the defense of Philadelphia’s waterfront on the Delaware river.
Come visit the PA Navy at the National Constitution Center on the 4th of July!
The complete muster rolls of the Pennsylvania Navy are available online! Volume XXIII Second Series of the PA Archives has the complete rolls. All the vessels and all the crew movements for that three year period. You can read it online and it is also available to be downloaded in various formats.

Today was the start of the American Revolution at Lexington and Concord, 238 years ago.
The Paoli Encampment in September 2013 will be a timeline event! The PSN will be there interpreting and demonstrating and hopefully educating folks about what the PSN actually is and is not. I encourage everyone to come out and support Paoli Battlefield and help get this first time event up and running.
Excellent turnout for the site. 5th PA, 11th PA, Trevitt’s Marines, PSN, 3rd PA, 9th PA, Lamb’s, Proctor’s, and the 1st NJ Volunteers. Thanks to the Princeton organizers for a great time and a well run event. There will be a repeat of the event in September for anyone that missed it this time.

Yesterday (March 10th) was Charter Day. Free admission to all PHMC sites. Brandywine Battlefield saw hundreds of visitors. Ring House (Washington’s HQ) was open for tours. A blacksmith was working the forge in the barn at Gilpin House (Lafayette’s HQ). The museum was open with artifacts returned to the site by the PHMC. British reenactors. […]
